Motorcycle taxi to facilitate women’s transport

Woman riding a motocycle taxiMalian women’s associations play a fundamental role in the dissemination of eye health awareness-raising and promotion campaigns. First, they attend informative talks in order to get a basic understanding of the importance of vision care, and then they hold informative sessions in different communities.

In order to carry out these activities that also promote the individual and collective empowerment of women, Eyes of the world delivered in 2019 to the CAFO of Koro (collective of NGOs and women’s associations) motorcycles adapted as taxis to be used:

  • as a means of transport during awareness-raising campaigns.
  • Group of women in front of a mototaxi
  • to help women who need to get to the health centre.
  • rental service to raise funds for CAFO.

Besides being a solution for transport, vehicles are also a source of income so that women’s associations can manage themselves.

These motorcycles have been financed by the City Council of Hondarribia.
